Thank you to all our members and donors!
The American Journal of French Studies is proud to present you the two professors of the year who have achieved tremendous success in the French classroom!
For the year 2020, Lafayette High School teacher Laure Warner asked numerous students to submit an essay and she has been awarded the title of “Best High School teacher of the year” by the American Journal of French Studies for her willingness to promote the French language through our writing contest. Also in 2020, the students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham have submitted the highest number of essays in the Undergraduate division, and Assistant Professor Charly Verstraet has been awarded a monetary prize of $100 and the title of “Best University Professor of the year” for his relentless efforts to offer his students a viable way to write and be published in French.
They have each been awarded $100 prize for their commitment to the French language in the United States, made possible by your memberships and donations. They share with us their gratitude for your support:
Charly Verstraet

I would like to warmly thank the American Journal of French studies, its team, members, and generous donors for bestowing me with the « Best University Professor of the Year » award.
It is a great honor to receive such a distinction, which reaffirms my commitment to share the French language and culture with my students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and beyond.
Thank you to AJFS for contributing to the outreach of the French language in the United States, notably through this contest that offers a unique opportunity for students to express themselves in French.
